What is Reiki?
Healing by non-evasive hands-on or distance therapy. Mostly used for de-stressing or relaxation. Anyone can learn to use

this technique, though you first need to be attuned to the Reiki energies.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the

idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more

likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually

"spiritually guided life force energy."

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating

many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known

illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects

and promote recovery.

An amazingly simple technique to learn. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of

"life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.

Its use is not dependent on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development and therefore is available to everyone. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people

of all ages and backgrounds.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on

belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not.

Origins:
Dr. Mikao Usui, or Usui Sensei as he is called by his students in Japan, is the founder of the Usui System of Reiki. He was born August 15, 1865 in the village of Yago in the

Yamagata district of Gifu prefecture, Japan. Usui Sensei had an avid interest in learning and worked hard at his studies. He traveled to Europe and China to further his education.

His curriculum included medicine, psychology, and religion. It is thought that he was from a wealthy family, as in Japan only the wealthy could afford to send their children to school.

Eventually he became the secretary to Pei Gotoushin, head of the department of health and welfare who later became the Mayor of Tokyo. The connections Usui Sensei made

at this job helped him to become a successful businessman.

In 1914 Usui's personal and business life was failing. As a sensitive spiritualist, Usui Sensei had previously spent much time meditating at power spots on Mt. Kurama. So he

decided to travel to this holy mountain, where he enrolled in Isyu Guo, a twenty-one-day training course. We do not know for certain what he was required to do during this training,

but it is likely that fasting, meditation, chanting and prayers were part of the practice. In addition, we know there is a small waterfall on Mt. Kurama where even today people go to meditate.

This meditation involves standing under the waterfall and allowing the waters to strike and flow over the top of the head, a practice which is said to activate the crown chakra. Japanese

Reiki Masters think that Usui Sensei may have used this meditation as part of his practice. In any case, it was during the Isyu Guo training that the great Reiki energy entered his crown

chakra. This greatly enhanced his healing abilities and he realized he had received a wonderful new gift - the ability to give healing to others without depleting his own energy!

My testimonial:
Every day I was in great pain and discomfort due to a knee problem I had from birth, and I used to rely on a walking stick to get around. A colleague saw me struggling and asked

if I knew about Reiki; my answer was 'No'. So she worked on my knees for a good 10 - 15 minutes, and since then I haven't needed to use my walking stick as the pain is

now much reduced.

Healing/Attunement info:
During a healing session or attunement, you may feel:

Heat
Tingling sensations
See colours

Everyone reacts differently to the healing/attunements.

It is important to drink plenty of water after any attunement or healing session. This helps get rid of blockages/toxins etc.

After any attunements, it's important to practice as much as possible.

Cleansing process after attunements:

Physical Purification

Flu-like symptoms may be experienced, minor discomforts include: achy muscles, fever, headache, sore throat, excessive mucus, coughing,

constipation, diarrhea and other minor symptoms as toxins are released and your body is cleansed and balanced.

To lessen effects: take long walks in country settings, exercise the entire body mildly or do yoga, breath clean fresh air and drink lots of pure fresh water.

Eat light nourishing meals, which include fresh fruit, vegetables and juices. Try to stay away from caffeine, nicotine.

Emotional Purification

Deeply held emotions may surface for no apparent reason: anger, frustration, grief, fear sadness and others. These emotions have been repressed or suppressed

from earlier times, this life and past, they are being released. Do not allow yourself to become emotionally effected by what you experience. Do not place blame

on anyone or anything for these feelings. Just experience them as they surface and let them go.

To lesson effects: meditate, breathing in and out gently. Take a long hot bath in Epsom salt and sea salt. Soak about 1/2 hr. This will relax you.

Mental Purification

Old thought forms, behavior patterns and habits may come to the surface. Addictive desires for food, beverage, nicotine, caffeine, alcohol etc may increase or

resurface. Thoughts of judgment, blame, victimization, abuse, denial, self-destruction, self-pity etc may happen. These issues are being healed on every level of your

being, from this lifetime and others. Do not be hard on yourself or allow these impulses and thoughts to get the better of you. Acknowledge them; let them go, then change your

thoughts willfully to those of a more positive nature.

To lessen the effects: Be kind to yourself, do things that make you feel good, repeat positive affirmations, mantras, and listening to your favorite music eases the intensity of the

potentially negative effects of the thoughts.

Spiritual Purification

Your beliefs may be shaken and challenged, beliefs in how the world operates, how relationships should be, religion, what is important to your life. As this occurs, insights,

revelations and new understanding will become clear; these will be the building blocks of your newly forming and ever changing spiritual foundation.

To lessen the effects: Talk to like minded people about your experiences, read uplifting spiritual books, listen to motivational tapes and treat yourself with love and kindness.

You are gaining new levels of understanding. Know that all is well and this process is perfectly normal. Be at peace.

Note: If you are having any major effects and are concerned get in contact with your Reiki Master for reassurance.

Proper vs Self Attunements:
Some people on the Internet think 'self attunements' don't work. That you have to be attuned by a Reiki Master before you can use Reiki etc.

I've personally tried both, and still not 100% certain myself.

You could try self attunements very easily, just do the following:

1. Relax/Meditate.

2. Say mentally "I ask that I may be attuned for the (Reiki modality and level) attunement".

3. The energies will then start, attunements may last 7-40 minutes. Some may take longer.

4. During this time you might feel tingling, heat or see colours etc.

Any others etc:

1. Relax/Meditate.

2. Say mentally "I ask that I may be attuned for the energy of (Crystals, Metals etc, i.e. Silver)".

3. The energies will then start, attunements may last 7-40 minutes. Some may take longer.

You can also self attune yourself to:

Homeopathic medicine
Essential oils
Energy tools

Gem elixirs etc....

You might experience tingling etc more if you are properly attuned to i.e. Reiki Master/Teacher level first. The more self attunements you call, the stronger

you will sense or feel the energy etc.

Once attuned:
You can charge items, water, massage oils, teddy bears, food, stones etc.

You can attune & heal others in person or at a distance.

Healing is safe on pets and pregnant women etc, plus you can self heal.

I use the intention method when sending attunements/healing. My intent to send & recipients intent to receive is all that's needed.

You can always have a couple of Reiki attunements to the same modality, aka re-attunements.
You can also try the self attunement method if you wish, when thinking of getting attuned.
